Handwovens

A variety of handwoven products are available from Harelooms, including a range of items from rag rugs to placemats to coasters to table runners. Custom orders for any type of handwoven product are welcome. Additionally, all handwoven products can be machine washed in warm water. You may place orders online through the online store.

Rag rugs are woven in a variety of colors and patterns. Most are woven with strips of cloth cut from upholstery remnants making rugs that are both durable and elegant. Rugs woven with strips cut from cotton sheets and other cotton fabrics make a lovely accent for less formal decor. Rugs may be used as floor covering as well as wall hangings. .

Placemats and Tablerunners are woven using cotton thread. Placemats may also be woven with rug roping (thick, soft cotton rope) making them absorbant, as well as decorative. A variety of colors is available.

Mug Rugs, or coasters, are woven from a variety of materials. Most popular are those woven with rug roping, because they are absorbent. These may be made with a natural or colored warp thread and fringe. When natural thread is used, a simple design may be painted on one side of the mug rug. Fabric strips or rug yarn also make very attractive and durable mug rugs.

Soaps

Soaps are made from scratch -- "just like Grandma used to make" -- using tallow and lye. They are then hand milled (grated and remelted) before scents and other additives are blended in. Additives may include, but are not limited to: cinnamon, lavender, milk and honey, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, chocolate, cocoa butter, aloe, oatmeal, and vanilla. Other additives may be requested. Please note that special orders will take 6-8 weeks to be seasoned properly for use.
